Chellert Kennels was established in 1976. Currently based on a 3,7 ha
smallholding in the Honeydew area of Roodepoort, South Africa. (Just outside of Johannesburg)

Our motto of BRAINS AND BEAUTY aptly describes my philosophy in attempting to breed Rough Collies. Striving to achieve dogs which whilst standing with dignity have beautiful heads, sweet expressions, and are sound., but above all must have good solid temperaments.

To this end all our stock is tested for H.D.,CEA.,PRA., H.C., and all puppies temperament tested. All junior and older dogs undergo some form of training, with most having competed in both obedience and conformation classes.

All puppies bred by us are dewormed every two weeks from ten days of age, vaccinated, eye tested, and microchipped prior to sale. All puppies are sold with breeders restrictions - which will be lifted after discussion with us at suitable age.

Currently Chellert collies compete in show, obedience, agility, and carting competitions, and in the past when time permitted for training also in working trails, shutzhund, and herding trials.

My aim has always been to have a totally versatile dog that is happy to do whatever is asked of it, with joy and enthusiasm when needed, and yet be soft and gentle when required. In other words, my ideal companion.
